How to Engage Your Audience on Social Media

Trying to engage your audience on social media can seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. If you follow these steps, you’ll be engaging your audience before you know it! 1. Be active on your social media platforms 2. Respond to customers in a timely manner 3. Engage with customers who are already engaging with you 4. Have fun while engaging 5. Watch your hashtags

1) Know What is Happening
You don’t have to be in touch with every social media platform out there, but you do need to know what is happening. Is Snapchat any good? Should you be on Tik Tok? What’s it like having two Instagrams? Is Facebook in decline? Social media marketing isn’t about being on all of them—you can’t be—but it is about knowing when they are relevant for your business and especially which platforms your target customers are using.

2) Develop Good Habits
The key to social media engagement is developing a routine that you follow religiously. This routine can be anything from writing your first post of each day while drinking your morning coffee, to scheduling out a week’s worth of Facebook updates while watching TV at night. The point is, develop habits so you won’t need to worry about posting when it’s time for bed and you haven’t written a thing all day. The more regular your schedule, the more quickly things will get done.

3) Be Genuine
It sounds like a no-brainer, but social media engagement isn’t just about building brand awareness and promoting your company. It’s important to be genuine and give customers an opportunity to provide feedback and give their opinions. That way, you can build a community of brand advocates who want what you have to offer and use their influence as customers or potential consumers to spread positive messages about your products or services.

4) Social media monitoring vs social media listening
These two terms may seem similar, but they have different meanings. When you’re monitoring social media channels, you’re reading what others are saying about your brand. In contrast, when you’re listening, you’re analyzing these discussions and posting responses that resonate with your target audience. By paying attention to all of these digital channels, companies can get a better understanding of their customer base and potential opportunities for growth. To engage your audience on social media is to let them know you hear them.

Its all about the interaction, listen and respond to social posts, comments and mentions. Try building your own group of clients and potential clients on facebook for example. Build a forum to easily listen and engage with your clients.
